On Saturday 31 August, members from our Neighbourhoods teams - Deana, Erna, Ashley, and Jake attended a celebration at Hamilton Avenue, where a new playground was revealed to the local community. Spirits were high as around 70 residents came together for this special moment.
The playground has always been a key part of the Hamilton Avenue community. A place where children can play, neighbours can relax and catch up and everyone can enjoy the outdoors.
The Hamilton Estate Residents Association worked hard to improve the playground, alongside your local Neighbourhood Coordinator and the Resident Involvement Team from PA housing. The revamp marked a new chapter for this much-loved space.
A statement from Harry our Head of Neighbourhoods for the South-East:
“The engagement between our Neighbourhood Coordinators and the Resident Association is a great example of working with our residents to deliver change and highlighting new ideas from the meetings that have been held with them. The park area, which is a hub for the local community, has received this new renovation which we look forward to the local community enjoying for years to come."
The event had some special moments including the blessing of the new park space by the local church vicar, who sprinkled holy water as she wanted everyone in the area to enjoy the space for a long time into the future.
It was a wonderful afternoon filled with playing and celebration. This is just one example of the amazing things that we can achieve when we work together.
