Bingo Night at Churchfield House

Every Friday afternoon at Churchfield House, residents gather for a fun and friendly game of bingo. It’s become a real highlight of the week for many of our residents, as the lounge fills with laughter, a bit of friendly competition and a warm sense of togetherness.

Many residents said they’ve missed having regular get togethers. The feeling of community has faded since the pandemic and for some residents, it has been a lonely time. That’s why these bingo afternoons have been a great opportunity to reconnect with neighbours. It was lovely to see people chatting, smiling and even some family members joining in too.

The idea came from Marcelle, the amazing host, who is also a carer for one of our residents and a true champion for community spirit. She noticed that the regular coffee mornings weren’t exciting residents anymore – Many said they felt uninspired and wanted something more fun. So, Marcelle suggested bingo, some residents didn’t think it would be possible. But with the support from your Neighbourhood Coordinator, she made it happen!

Now, every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. the lounge is full of smiles and excitement. Marcelle even arranges prizes, which are donated by her friends and colleagues who share her passion for giving back to the community.

A huge thank you to Marcelle for her dedication and kindness. These events have brought real joy to Churchfield House and help our residents feel more connected.

Although this event is a great starting point, many residents said they’d love more social events. The pandemic changed a lot, especially for our older and more vulnerable residents, and now it is time to rebuild that sense of community.

What kind of events would you like to see in the lounge?

We’d love to hear your ideas. Please fill-in our feedback and suggestion form here and let us know what you’d enjoy.
