Resident lifts spirits in Leicester

I would like to highlight a resident of ours who I feel has gone above and beyond for her area. Her name is Susan, and she lives in Leicester.

She called in the other day to talk over some ongoing issues within the block and a neighbour who I've helped with.

However, while on the line, the resident let me know that the other residents have been feeling very down lately and there have also been 6 deaths in the community over the last few months. So, she wanted to do something to bring everyone together.

Rather than sitting back, Susan decided to do something about it.  What she did was organise a small party on Saturday 12 July  from 6.00pm – 7.30pm. She didn't want this to go on any later as she knew some residents go to bed at 8.00pm. She hired some entertainment and organised food to really make a good day of it.

Amazingly, Susan paid for the entertainment out of her own savings, a real sacrifice given her own personal challenges,  and only asked for a small £5 contribution toward food. Residents who attended were incredibly grateful, describing the event as just what they needed to lift their spirits.

Susan is facing her own difficulties right now, but she still put her community first. Her act of kindness not only brought neighbours together but also showed the power of compassion in difficult times.

This generosity deserves to be recognised and celebrated, thank you, Susan, for reminding us what true community spirit looks like!
