Potters Court car park in full bloom

When living in towns and cities, it can sometimes be difficult to find pockets of nature that aren’t just grass and trees – but this good news story is sure to add a pop of life into your day!

At PA, we want to make sure that your, our residents are happy and comfortable using the shared spaces in and around your homes. This can include making the most of shared gardens as outlined in our guidelines to enjoying shared green spaces, but there’s some areas such as car parks where things feeling like a concrete jungle can be seem a bit unavoidable.

Residents at Potters Court in Beeston had been feeling this way, and they’d noticed some planters in their car park that had been empty for some time. So they said to Beth, their local Neighbourhood Coordinator, that they’d like to get some artificial plants put into these planters to brighten things up.

Beth thought that was a great idea, so she decided to take a look at her Neighbourhood Improvement Fund (NIF) to see what she could do. After some discussion with the rest of the Neighbourhoods team, she was able to use £1,000 to not only get the artificial plants but also give the planters a fresh lick of paint! You said, we did!

The project was completed on 18 June. The plants add a lovely splash of colour and life to the car park, and the earthy brown colour that our contractors painted the planters really makes the greens stand out. Not only that, but since the plants are artificial, they won’t need any upkeep to keep brightening up the space all year round!

One resident told Beth: “I think the plants look great, and the boxes look new too. I walked over to them tonight to take a glance as I was arriving home from work, only to discover they are fake plants (they look real until you touch them - and I was going to offer to water them every weekend – LOL)! Really good thanks, very pleased with what you've done.”
