Community Event
On Thursday 14 August, Our Neighbourhoods Team brought PA on Tour to Pearce House! We set up in the back garden for an afternoon of face painting, sweet treats, (including PA-branded cookies), and most importantly, chatting with you about your homes and neighbourhood.
We were joined by many friendly faces from across PA Housing including:
-
Nathan, your Neighbourhood Coordinator (NC)
-
Karis, Neighbourhood Team Manager (NTM)
-
Lucy and Teresa from our Safeguarding Team
-
Justine and Paul from our Tenancy Sustainment Team (TST)
-
Poitr, Estate Services Contract Manager
-
Asye, Antisocial Behaviour Officer
Together, we were ready to listen, help, and enjoy the afternoon with you. While we chatted, our younger residents enjoyed some fun too – thanks to a face painting artist who joined us from 12 to 1pm. Just look at the smiles on our young residents faces.
Door Knocks and Saying Hello
Things started off a little quiet, so our team went door-to-door to invite you down. Even if you couldn’t make it, many of you still shared your thoughts with us, which was just as valuable.
The main issue raised was the mice in the building, but you also told us about other concerns.
Here’s what we heard and what we’re doing:
-
Mice in homes – Many of you told us about mice and one resident was extremely upset about holes not being patched properly. Our Neighbourhood and Contracts and Partnership teams are now working with Repairs and Pest Control to make sure these holes are filled. Nathan is also reviewing the bin area and looking into adding lids to help keep pests away.
-
Bugs and neighbour disputes – One resident, supported by her daughter over the phone, told us about issues with bugs in her home and a neighbour dispute. Karis offered advice and support, we are arranging for a team to come and spray and remove the bugs for good.
-
Water and gas problems – A resident reported no water due to pressure issues and a possible gas leak in a communal area. Karis and Nathan were on site to investigate and raise a repair so it can be fixed quickly.
-
Overcrowding – Another resident spoke with us about how upset he is due to severe overcrowding in his home. Our Home Moves Team are already searching for a bigger property so his family can live more comfortably. Karis and Nathan will also follow up to help move things along faster and keep the resident updated.
-
Vulnerable neighbours – You let us know about a neighbour you’re worried about. Nathan and our Safeguarding Team are checking in to see what extra support we can offer. Thank you for raising this with us.
-
Outdoor space and safety – Our Contract and Partnership Officer also looked at the garden area. We’ll soon be tidying up weeds, ivy and branches. To keep everyone safe, the trampoline and the damaged fence will also be removed
An Afternoon Well Spent
It was fantastic to see so many of you, whether in the garden or at your door. Events like this are about more than treats and face painting: they’re about listening to your voices and acting on what matters most to you and working together to make Pearce House a better place to live. We know the mice issue is a big priority, and we’ll keep you updated on the progress we make with Pest Control and Repairs.
Our aim is to keep working with you to make sure your home is a place where you feel safe, supported and proud to live.
PA on Tour will be back again, so keep an eye out for us on your NC webpage for updates.
And, if you’ve got a suggestion for our next PA on Tour event, or an idea on how to improve your neighbourhood, we’d love to hear it! why not let us know by filling out our Neighbourhood Improvement Form.
Thank you, we look forward to chatting with you next time!
