On Thursday, 7 August Hanley Road residents came together for a special PA on Tour event. It was a fantastic afternoon with residents taking part in a fun chair-based exercise class.
The event was all about gentle stretches, light movements and plenty of smiles and laughter. One resident told us how much she enjoyed getting active. Ross, your Neighbourhood Coordinator and Liz your Head of Neighbourhoods for London, joined in too. Ross said he felt “really energised” and couldn’t believe how quickly the hour went!
The afternoon wasn’t just about keeping active; it was also about listening to you and acting on your concerns.
Meet the Team
It was a great chance for you, our residents, to meet some of the faces behind PA Housing. Ross was joined by Liz, Karis, your Neighbourhood Team Manager (NTM), and Gustavo, a Repairs Surveyor. Gustavo stopped by before the event to check the basement leak that’s been causing the ongoing lift issue. He recommended that a leak detection expert investigates the cause, so we can determine the next step in resolving the issue.
While Ross and Liz bonded with residents through exercise, Karis spent time in the lounge chatting with residents about safety concerns due to others entering the building, the ongoing lift problem and a request for extra support for replacing white goods.
We’ll be working with our Tenancy Sustainment Team to see what extra help we can offer.
Coffee and Conversation
After all the exercise, it was time to relax with fresh scones, cream, strawberries and a lovely cuppa. Over a coffee, we had a productive chat about the following concerns:
-
Updates on the lift
-
Service charges for the lift being out of action and complaints
-
Repairs and cleaning
-
Future activities you’d like to see
It was also wonderful to hear your positive feedback about the doors, which you told us are “brilliant”. A few of you also shared how much you appreciate Ross’s hard work in the neighbourhood – one resident even called him a “fantastic guy”.
Update on the lift
If you missed the meeting, we know the lift being out of service has been frustrating. The problem is a leaking pump that causes water to affect the lift’s electrics. A leak detection expert is currently investigating the issue. We’re working hard to find a permanent fix, so this doesn’t keep happening.
Your Ideas in Action
When we asked what other events you’d like to see, you all mentioned regular get-togethers. This could be a chance to stay updated on issues, meet new neighbours and share feedback.
So, starting next month, Ross will host Monthly Coffee Afternoon.
Date: First Tuesday of every month (or Thursday if he’s unavailable)
Where: Hanley Road Lounge
Time: From 3pm
Look out for reminders on the notice board and your NC’s webpage to stay in the loop.
What Happened Since the Event
Ross has already been busy! Here’s what’s been done so far:
-
Contacted the DVLA to investigate the intruder who’s been using the car park, communal kitchen, toilet and laundry facilities. Once we have the intruders details, we will take further action.
-
Spoken to the Service Charge Team about a possible refund to the lifts lack of service and inconvenience.
-
Chased the cleaning contractors to make sure toilet paper and hand soap are replenished regularly.
-
Started exploring a diversity calendar to celebrate different cultures throughout the year.
-
Sent a request to the repairs team to reposition the notice board
Looking Ahead
A big thank you to Ross and Karis for organising such a fantastic afternoon and thank you to everyone who came along – it was a fun and productive day. We can’t wait to welcome you to the next event!
