From neglected and overgrown to a beautiful reflection garden, take a look at how we transformed the Fulmer Close allotment.
Remember the old allotment space at Fulmer Close? Over time, it fell into disuse and lost its charm. But we all knew it had potential—it just needed a bit of love and attention!
We made sure to listen to you, our Fulmer Close residents, and put your ideas and aspirations at the heart of this project. Through our conversations, the vision of a reflection garden emerged—a peaceful, green space where you could relax and connect with your neighbours.
The transformation
Back in November, we put on our gardening gloves and got to work, rakes and spades in hand, ready to transform this space into a lawned garden for all residents to enjoy!
We were delighted when our grounds maintenance contractor, Just Ask, kindly dedicated a team of volunteers and the equipment needed for the transformation. This collaboration was a true community effort.
The transformation is incredible! The once neglected allotment is now a beautiful Reflection Garden, and it's all thanks to your ideas and support. A team from both Just Ask and PA Housing got well and truly stuck in, removing the brambles and old wooden raised beds. The transformation was made within a day and was then left to settle so that the turf could establish.
The opening of the reflection garden
On Wednesday 22 May, Neighbourhood Coordinator, Beth, held an opening event for the reflection garden. The opening was attended by members of our Neighbourhoods team, Richmond councillors, Just Ask and outreach workers. Residents and community ambassadors, Trish and Jacqui, also came along to the launch event and appreciated the opportunity to speak with staff and local partners.
Now open, the Fulmer Close reflection garden is in bloom with wildflowers, thriving green grass and a bench to enjoy the lovely communal spot just in time for summer!
We hope you enjoy this new space as much as we enjoyed creating it with you!
