Just southeast of Leicester City Centre, Highfields lives up to its name as one of the highest areas in the city and boasts a culturally diverse population. Its history dates back to the early nineteenth century when it was a rural area known quite literally as "High Fields", an area rich in water sources and windmills, and much of the development it saw in the 1820s has survived to this day. Its proximity to the city centre makes it an excellent hub for amenities such as schools and nurseries for all ages, medical centres, places of worship across various religions, big-name and international supermarkets and a police station. Leicester Railway Station is within walking distance and can be reached by bus services that also keep the area well-connected and accessible.
Highfields is home to a library and community centre with several clubs and events to offer a sense of community, whether it's through religion or just being a resident in the neighbourhood. There are many local opportunities for employment with a wide variety of roles available both in the city centre and at Leicester General Hospital, one of the larger employers in the area that hires from all walks of life and qualification levels.
