Sitting east of Leicester City Centre and north of Oadby, Evington is a culturally diverse area of Leicester that has humble roots as a village turned conservation area. The name Evington comes from Old English, meaning 'farm/settlement of Eafa/Aefa', and was originally larger than it is today until 1935 when the boundaries of Leicester were expanded, and Evington became part of the city. Evington is home to a number of churches built in the Gothic Revival architectural style and decorated with lots of green space such as Evington Park and Evington Village Green, where the Evington Village Fete and Show is held annually.

The area has a wide variety of schools including a special school and religious schools, a Tesco Superstore and other supermarkets as well as two main shopping centres and is close to the General Hospital and court. Leicester Railway Station is close by and can be reached by bus services that also keep the area well-connected and accessible. There are many local opportunities for employment with a wide variety of roles available both in the city centre and at Leicester General Hospital, one of the larger employers in the area that hires from all walks of life and qualification levels.
