Thames Ditton is a picturesque village in Surrey, 12 miles southwest of Central London, close to Kingston. The village has Saxon origins and grew into a thriving settlement during the Medieval Period. Today, it is a residential neighbourhood with a mix of Georgian, Victorian, and modern homes. With significant buildings in the neighbourhood displaying its rich history, such as St. Nicolas Church and Boyle Farm. The village is situated on the River Thames and is known for its scenic riverside views and open spaces like Giggs Hill Green.
Thames Ditton has several great schools, including Ditton Infant School, Thames Ditton Junior School, and Esher College. The community also has many local GP practices, as well as independent retail shops, cafes, and pubs. To improve its family friendly sense of community, the village hosts several community activities throughout the year, such as film festivals, quiz nights, seasonal fairs, and community markets.
There are many local businesses in hospitality, retail, and the creative industries contributing to the local economy. Elmbridge borough Council aims to balance growth with maintaining the villages historic charm and green spaces by enhancing transport links and improving infrastructure.
