On Friday 21 March, PA housing joined forces with Surrey County Council and other local partners to take part in a relaxed, coffee and conversation afternoon in Field Common. The event took place from 3pm – 6pm, welcoming residents from all walks of life to come and chat over a free warm cuppa, meet local service providers and share their thoughts on life in the community.

Challenges faced by Oakbank Avenue

We understand residents sometimes feel cut off from the wider Walton area. With limited communal spaces, it’s not always easy for residents to connect with each other – or to access support.

That’s why we teamed up with our partners Surrey County Council, Elmbridge Borough Council, Surrey Police, St Johns Church, CAP, Caremark Elmbridge and others, to create a space for residents to find support.

What We Heard

Throughout the afternoon residents shared feedback on what matters most to them, and we heard you mention:

·       The need for more support for young people

·       Concerns around antisocial behaviour and safety

·       A need for more community events.

·       Concerns around repairs and vacant homes.

Having so many partners at the event sparked many different conversations on how residents can feel more included and better supported. We were also able to update residents on concerns around repairs and vacant homes.

Community Support Available

The event was a great opportunity for residents to learn more about what is already happening locally. These are just some of the amazing groups and services nearby offering advice and practical support.

Mens Pit Stop – A weekly drop in space for men to chat every Thursday, 10am-12pm at St John’s Church Walton.

King's Church Toddlers – For parents and toddlers every Wednesdays, 9:30am – 10:30am at St Johns church Walton.

 Elmbridge Woman's Hub – Held every Wednesday from 11am – 12:30pm or 12:30pm – 2pm at St John’s Church Walton.

Anti-Social Behaviour Support In partnership with Surrey Police. You can also take a look at our ASB Toolkit for further advice.

These services are all about helping neighbours connect with each other and making sure everyone feels included.
