Calling all Canada Court residents! We are thrilled to announce an exciting new project: the creation of a community garden!

Resident, Chris, suggested transforming this disused corner of the play area into a vibrant, planted space and we are delighted to support this initiative! A community garden not only enriches our surroundings but also provides a space for relaxation, social interaction, and a connection with nature.

This project is a fantastic opportunity for you to come together, enhance the communal space, and foster a sense of community through shared gardening activities. So why not get involved?

Community garden pilot agreement

To make sure the project is a success, we have established some guidelines and expectations. These will help all residents understand how the space will be used and feel part of the project from the very beginning.

Please read the agreement below, which will also be displayed on noticeboards, to ensure transparency and awareness among all residents.

Purpose

Residents will use a designated part of the communal space for planting flowers, herbs, or other low-level plants for everyone to enjoy.

Duration

We will run this as a pilot project for an initial period of 6 months. After this period, residents and the Neighbourhood team will review its success.

Planting Guidelines
  • No invasive species or large shrubs/trees.

  • Keep the area tidy and safe — no tools, equipment, or hazards should be left out.

  • Only plant within the area agreed upon with the Neighbourhood teams.

Respect for Shared Space

This is a communal area and must remain accessible to all residents. The planting should not prevent others from enjoying or using the space.

Maintenance

Residents participating in the project will be responsible for maintaining the area, including watering and weeding. PA Housing will not be responsible for upkeep.

Review and Removal

If concerns are raised or if the space is not maintained, PA Housing reserves the right to end the pilot or remove the planting with prior notice.

Let’s get planting!

Right now, it’s a blank canvas, but we are excited to see this space transform. It’s a wonderful chance to work together, share ideas, and create a community garden for everyone to enjoy. Let’s make Canada Court a greener, more vibrant place to live!

Watch this space— we’ll be back with progress updates and transformation photos soon!
