St. John’s Neighbourhood Garden: Transforming your community
St John’s Neighbourhood Garden in Elmbridge has recently been given a new lease of life. Thanks to the passion of an engaged resident, support from PA Housing and our close partnership with Elmbridge Borough Council.
Once a forgotten space, the garden had sadly fallen into disrepair and become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour, making it an unsafe and unwelcoming place for residents. But that has now changed.
Working together with the local community, we’ve transformed the garden into a safe, vibrant and inviting space. This project was led by the people who know the neighbourhood best, it’s residents. From the very start, their ideas and feedback shaped the plans, from how the garden should look to how it can be used by everyone.
This wasn’t just about tidying up an outdoor space. It was about rebuilding a sense of safety and belonging within the neighbourhood and making sure every decision reflected the voice of the community.
Today, St. John’s Garden is a space where children can play safely, neighbours can chat and relax, and community events can bring people together. It’s changed from being a problem area to a positive focal point – and a great example of what we can achieve when we work together.
Why not come down and see it for yourself? We hope you’ll love it as much as we do.
