The cleans of Dover

Background hex pattern

As our Neighbourhood Coordinator responsible for Dover House in Leicester, Victoria noticed that there was a lot of litter around the grounds that made the area look untidy.

The event came about as a result of a monthly meeting our Neighbourhood Team have with the grounds maintenance contractor, John O'Conner. Victoria praised the job they do onsite but said that there was not enough time on their visits for all the litter to be cleared under bushes, on the grass, and more. So, the manager of John O'Conner suggested an action day where a group of colleagues could meet to clear the litter.

On a clear, dry Monday in January, contractors John O'Conner, Victoria, and her assembled team took to Dover House and went to battle against the litter armed with gloves, litter pickers, and scores of bin bags from 8.30 in the morning until around 2.00pm.

"I never realised how therapeutic litter picking could be. By the close of the day, the contractors at John O'Conner said that they'd collected enough rubbish to fill four of their trucks!”

Victoria, Neighbourhood Coordinator

Towards the end of this task, a few residents who were passing by congratulated Victoria on a job well done and said that the area now looked a lot better and cleaner. Leaving no leaf unturned, Victoria worked hard to restore some pride in where our residents live.
