Incident at our Walton-on-Thames office

Background hex pattern

Some of you may have seen that we closed our Walton-on-Thames office on 14 and 15 November due to an incident which occurred.

This is not a decision I made lightly, so I wanted to explain why we were forced to do this based on the actions of one individual.

Members of our staff received severe threats of violence from one of our residents resulting in the police attending. Due to the seriousness of the threats being made and the police involvement, I made the decision to close the office for the safety of our staff. This is not the first time threats have been made towards our staff with a number of other incidents occurring over the past few months.

This also means that the planned open day at our Case House office in Walton-on-Thames on 15 November is also being cancelled due to safety concerns.

Thank you to residents who had registered to attend, and we hope that we may be able to reschedule the event soon. If you registered, you will receive a cancellation note from us today.

We know behaviour like this is the minority of our residents, but because of the actions of this one individual a review will be undertaken on whether we need to close our receptions permanently.

We will take legal action against anyone whose behaviour towards our staff is aggressive, threatening, or violent. Nothing on our part warrants what members of my team experienced yesterday, and I will not tolerate it.
