As part of our celebrations of Black History Month 2020, Dorothy Smith, Neighbourhood Team Manager and Chair of our staff Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Advisory Group is holding sessions every Monday during October to help colleagues understand the term ‘white privilege’.

The sessions, open to all colleagues, are aimed at educating anyone who may be unfamiliar with the term, how to identify it and how to tackle it. Participants will be given a number of everyday scenarios and asked to raise their hands (virtually) if they have experienced them to show the disparity between lived experiences in the UK, and across the world, depending on race.
I’m really excited about running the sessions to help participants understand the concept of white privilege is not an attack on white people but is a reflection of the reality that many communities across the world are affected by. This is an interactive workshop and all are welcome."
Let's Talk Podcast
Throughout Black History Month, Deana Clarke, Neighbourhood on Tour Coordinator will be sharing podcasts she has recorded with some of our BAME colleagues talking about their experiences growing up and their stories of living in the UK as a person of colour.
In this first edition, Deana chats to Dorothy about her Caribbean heritage and her career in housing.
