PA Housing makes a stand

2019 - March, Latest news

PA Housing has joined other organisations in taking a stand against domestic abuse. The Make a Stand campaign is the collective initiative of the Chartered Institute of Social Housing, Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance.

Domestic abuse sees two people killed every week by their partner or ex-partner – and that’s just the abuse we know about. Looking at the numbers indicates that the housing sector must come into contact with many people who experience domestic abuse.

We have a policy in place to support residents who are affected by domestic abuse, but by signing up to make a stand, we’ve committed to do the following:

  • - Make information about national and local domestic abuse support services available on our website so that they’re accessible for residents and staff.
  • - Put in place a policy to support members of staff who may be experiencing domestic abuse.
  • - Appoint a champion at a senior level to own the activity we’re doing to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

These simple steps could be critical in helping a customer or colleague that has been affected by domestic abuse.

You can follow the campaign online using the hashtag #makeastand.
