Ricksaw rides reduce car journeys

Residents at Sabarmati House are benefiting from a Leicester City Council project to improve air quality.
As part of a plan to reduce car traffic in the St Matthews area the council's Walking and Cycling Team has offered residents rickshaw rides to help them get around.
Janet Hudson and Nikita Kalyanji from Leicester City Council are working on a project to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the area - primarily around Dysart Road. As there is no direct bus route from St Matthews to Melton Road, residents often ask family or friends to drive them or they take a taxi.
The team offered free rickshaw rides from Sabarmati House to Melton Road and Macdonald Road Junction, on the first Monday of every month. If this project is successful, we could increase this to weekly sessions.
