Family fun at Lower Green

More than 30 families turned up to a Play Day at Lower Green Community Centre in Esher, hosted by PA Housing. The event was aimed at kids aged 14 and under who were offered a bouncy castle, sports and games activities, and dance.
For the adults there was lunch at the café, stalls selling plants, cakes, art work and crafts, live music, and local information.
Our community partners Eikon Youth Charity and Lower Green Preschool were there to support by offering the sports and the food.
Over the last 18 months our resident involvement team has partnered with the community development worker to engage with this often forgotten community. The community centre – owned by the local authority and supported by the Lower Green Community Association - has been revived into a well used and loved space.
It offers a wide range of services that were missing but are now meeting local needs – a community café and preschool, fitness classes, computing classes and football, over 60s meet ups and parents coffee morning.
Local entrepreneur Samantha Ireland set up a playschool at Lower Green in the spring. Several families are already signed up.
